The Missile Control Panel is fitted on the starboard console of the Jaguar cockpit and supports two Matra Type R550 Magic air-to-air missiles carried on over-wing pylons via Type 47 launcher beams. The panel provides selection, preparation and jettisoning of missiles, with the firing button located on the pilot's control column pistol grip. Selecting a missile and switching '550 PREP' ON feeds +28VDC to the chosen launcher and missile, supplying target search scanning, lock-on cell priming and firing circuits. On firing, relay 2Yn in the armament relay box energises and remains latched for 2 seconds after the firing switch is released, feeding the fire voltage through to the missile to ignite it. Missile warm-up begins automatically when 110V 400Hz is fed to the launcher via relays 2Ye/2Yd.
